Silver Queen – Monroe, GA

Silver Queen is a fabulous Mexican inspired restaurant in Monroe, Georgia. I am slowly eating my way through the menu and want to share with you some of my favorites. The menu at Silver Queen is full of delicious choices with a lot of gluten free options. They are very aware of gluten free and celiac disease and are careful when preparing a special order.

You’ll be greeted right from the get go with a smile by sweet hostesses.

Be sure to try the nachos! Order them as an appetizer or your entrée. Super fresh tortilla chips, topped with queso, sour cream, sliced avocados, cilantro, pico de gallo and your choice of a protein, if you choose. We decided on the brisket this time. The brisket was amazingly delicious and so tender that I could just break apart a chunk with my fork. 100% gluten free!!! Such a treat as they are packed with so many flavors!

This was a date night for hubby and I as it had been about 90 days since we had eaten out at a restaurant where we could actually sit inside, order off a menu and enjoy a server! With the Coronavirus, most restaurants were closed and have just recently begun opening up. What a celebration! Cheers to eating out once again!

Our server Keishon, who is also sometimes a cook, was super knowledgeable about what was on the menu and which dishes were gluten free. He was so kind and hospitable along with being attentive as our drinking glasses were never empty. He kept checking to see if we needed anything. Keishon was terrific! Ask for him when you go to Silver Queen and tell him I sent you! He’ll make your meal even more special!

I miss seeing smiles on faces! I can’t wait until masks are no longer needed!

This is an incredible taco dish. Keishon recommended the Braised Pork Taco with pickled onions, cilantro and cotija (Mexican cheese similar to Parmesan). He told me the pork reminded him of a dish his grandmother used to prepare when he was little. Well…I sure couldn’t pass up that suggestion! I LOVED it! The pork was so very tender and went perfectly with the pickled onions, cilantro and cotija. So much flavor packed in each bite. For gluten free, be sure to request the corn tortilla.

Look how gorgeous this Whole Roasted Corn is! It’s topped with chili mayo and queso fresco. Tricky to eat neatly but just ask for an extra napkin or two! So delicious and not spicy.

Hubby ordered the Grilled Shrimp Taco Rice and Bean Bowl so I would have yet another dish or nibble on. I only took one bite because I was getting so full and about to explode. It was fabulous! Isn’t it beautiful….

Silver Queen is beautiful from the outside in!

You can dine in or eat on the outdoor patio on the street level or upstairs. Each area is lovely.
